Natalie's Moving Again!!

Hi Girls!

In the new tradition of using this site to update our sisters, I am moving once again! I am leaving the house that I gutted and redesigned (and had our very first sorority retreat in) and am off to find a smaller home. I did make a huge profit though and can now live mortgage free!! Girls, my advice to you all is do the hard and dirty work now, so that you can live long and prosper later in life! I love you all and thanks to the girls who filled my house with life, joy and love. See you all at the next retreat! I am including some pictures for the girls that were here and didn't see the finished kitchen and basement!

Love Natalie

Gamma Chapter X-mas Dinner

The Gamma Chapter held our first annual X-mas Potluck to great success!
Suzy, Mel, Laura, Shannon, Trish and Sarah congregated at Sarah's house, and welcomed active member (and long-time sis!) Cheryl for a scrumptious feast of lasagna, cabage rolls, yams, ceasar salad and yummy Cobb's bread. We also nibbled on homemade cookies for dessert, and not to mention the awesome appie spread before dinner!

It was a great evening filled with reminicing, gabbing, laughing and all-around good times!

Hey There

Hey there Everyone,

I just got Amanda's wedding magnet in the mail today. I am so very excited for the two of them. Amanda and Nathan are probably some of the first people I met at UNBC, and it sure is nice to see Nathan in the hallways every once in a while. I miss everyone, and I hope everyone is fairing well in work and getting ready for the holidays. Merry Christmas everyone! Love you,

Cheryl

Hope to see you all in PG for the next one - keep sending me ideas of what you would like to do & activities you would like to see at the 2nd retreat!

Retreat 2006

Hello everyone,

Since we've decided to have the trip May 2006 I was wondering what sorts of stuff people would like to do up here in PG. I'll plan a get together with the active girls so we can form some bonds, but other than that is there anything specific people would like to do?

Amanda :)

PS - I know it's still a long way's away but I was wondering if everyone could give us PG gals an idea of if you think you're going to be able to attend or not. Thanks (from the crazy PG planners!)

Gamma Chapter - X-mas Card Making

Christmas card making (for our x-mas dinner in Dec) went really well. Mel, Laura, Suzy, and myself all congregated at Suzy's mom's house to hone in on our kindergarten craft maing skills!

I think we did pretty darn well and made some lovely cards!

The cards are going to be sent to the active girls from the lower mainland inviting them to our dinner. Hopefully a few will show up :)

All About APB Night

Hi everyone,

From reading the Gamma chapter meeting minutes, I realized that there is a misconception going around that we did not hold the "All About APB" event during Rush this year. Jamie & I did in fact attend the event, however we were only informed of the date less than a week prior & decided to try a more casual approach than the lecture type format we tried the first time round (ended up feeling like information overload!). There were about 6 active members & 4 pledges & we sat around & chatted about the history of the sorority & our involvement in it. It seemed to go very well as it got the other girls talking with us more than us just talking at them. We would like suggestions & ideas for specific things we should do at this event next year... like having alumnae send "telegrams" for us to read out to the active members & pledges.

Thanks ladies!

Amanda :)

PS - Please comment on the Oct31 - Online Meeting post by Sunday, Nov.6th & voting will commence Mon, Nov.7th & end Fri, Nov.11 with motions posted on the blog (if uncomfortable voting online, you can send me an email instead).

Good Morning Everyone

Good morning everyone,
Finally I can use this! This will be a neat way to keep in touch with everyone, thanks for the invite Amanda.
I hope everyone is doing well. I really miss having everyone around PG and UNBC. I can't tell you how odd it is so be finishing my last semester with no one around the halls any longer. I guess that is what happens when you take a couple of years off here and there.
I am doing well in all of my classes, except for Stats, but I am trying to hold strong!
Also, I started playing Rugby again, which has been great fun. Tonight we have Kangaroo Court, where you stand trial in front of the team...for any wrongdoings you may have committed...and sometimes when you do nothing, is when you will suffer the most...SO I fear tonight...but I can handle it.
A couple of weeks ago I was able to go out to Brunch with the Alumnae group, it was nice to see everyone. I hadn't seen Amanada or Jaimie since I moved back so it was good to see everyone. I miss Pam alot. It's not the same without her here.
Sometimes it is hard when people loose touch or have busy lives, but really, all of the closest friends I have, are from the sorority. No matter what kind of troubles we face as a group, we will always be together in our hearts with a great vision.
I remember Trish with her spunky attitude, Carrie with all her sweetness - the little Valentines and missed History Classes! Of course Suzie, who always kept me in line, and kept in touch even though we were so far apart. Sonja who always emails me still, and who I talk with on MSN, Sonja and Niki sending me postcards for my collection!! Pam, who is getting married next summer, and me and Mel B are in her wedding!! Cheryl, who is my room mate now. Kelsey who was my room mate. Ally, who always talks with me on MSN and sends me the cutest pictures of her cute family, Happy Third Birthday Noah! Dom, always telling me her crazy stories, and planning her wedding coming up. Thanks for the invite Dom! Miss you.
Well, I better sign off of here and get back to studying for my Japanese midterm.
I am so happy that I am finally on here! Hopefully this will be a good way to keep in touch.
Miss you and love you,
Talk to you soon
Cheryl

Improving relations with local chapter

Sisters,

Amanda brought up something in her last email that we all need to seriously examine. The PG alumane group has learned that the some local chapter members do not have the greatest impression of the alumnae group. I believe this started from the empowering weekend visit, the AGM that year and the AGM that dealt with regulating male membership. I think that certain members have been angry and resentful since then and have continued to hold these views and have spread them to newer members. While at the time I knew this was going to happen I actually didn't care what they thougth of us... but now I do. I realize that they may never join the alumnae because of what they are taught to think of us while in the local chapter. While this may not bother some of us I think it is quite sad.

I was hoping that we could brainstorm some ideas on how to improve relations between both groups. I was thinking that contributing a page in the yearbook is an easy way to have them learn a bit about us. I was also thinking that maybe creating another blog site the both groups could participate in might help (we should keep this one separate of course). I was thinking maybe some sort of emailed member profile and picture of everyone... it could be "featured this month is alumnae member Sarah and local chapter member Catherine." I am also in the middle of creating a pamphlet for the local chapter that explains who we are and how they can join our group. It would have our website and email address on it. I was thinking that it would be given to them each December to get them thinking about joining our group if they are graduating or leaving the group.

I know that in the past we may have kind of hit them over the head with getting what we want (and I was all for that) but I think we may need to canoodle and schmooze this time. Presents may even work! And maybe just taking an interest in what they are doing may help as well. And maybe if we knew who were the Board members we could get alumnae members who were in those positions to email that person and say something like "Hey congrats on the new position, just wanted you to know that I was ____ in 200_ and I always found ___ really hard. If you ever need someone to vent to or ask advice just drop me a line."

Well I think that is enough for now. Blog you later!

This is so cool!

Hey girls!
This blog thing rocks! I cannot believe that we actually found something that works for us! Kudos to Amanda for being so technically inclined. This could also work for voting. All comments would be in a nice packaged area that you don't need to go back and look at previous emails. As for the online meeting... Sunday works for me. As for clothes... I ordered samples on Monday and was told they will take 10-14 days. If the samples are good we can then start ordering clothes. I will also get pictures of the artwork on the clothes and then post it all and email it all out just to have all the bases covered. This is a picture of us on our hike at Shane Lake.
